The following is a rundown of action taken by the Terrebonne Parish Council at its Budget and Finance Committee meeting Monday. All council members attended. All decisions were unanimous unless otherwise noted.
Action: Bought three buses from National Bus Group and Leasing for $254,004 for the Good Earth Transit system that will be used for evacuating disabled residents during emergencies, like hurricanes.
Action: Bought two portable pumps
cheap ed hardy clothing for $129,600 for the parish Drainage Department.
Action: Hired Acadian Hydro-Tunnelers Co. for up to $76,120 to replace deteriorated sewer lines at the Terrebonne Parish jail.
Action: Sold surplus property at 6698 Grand Caillou Road to Harry Pierre.
Action: Sold surplus property at 198 Morris Porche Lane to Maison Rentals.
Action: Rejected the bid from Willis
discount ed hardy Trosclair Jr. to buy surplus property on Orange Street because he didn’t include required information in his bid.
Action: Approved changes to the
pandora style charmagreement with the state Office of Community Development to account for more hurricane-recovery money from the federal government.
Notes: Parish Manager Al Levron said the parish is receiving grants for the Port of Terrebonne and the Terrebonne Economic Development Authority to supplement the $133 million already obtained. Councilman Joey Cehan stepped out of the room and missed the vote.
Action: Agreed to use $10 million in
pandora beads on sale hurricane-recovery grants to help build LaShip’s dry dock at the Port of Terrebonne.
Action: Agreed to use $3.76 million in hurricane-recovery grants for three business programs.
